A few months ago I had the privilege of spending some time at various college campuses. I got to observe the kids and I noticed something while I did so. What I observed was that if someone wants to lose weight and get the exercise then returning to college might well be the answer. Walking to Classes
Most of college students walk to their classes. Some college campuses can spread over many acres and so walking to class ensures that you get the right cardiovascular exercise that we all need.
Carrying the Books
Any textbook about philosophy can weigh up to 12 pounds! If you were to take just five classes a day that would equal 60 pounds of textbooks that you would be carrying. That is just as good as getting a good workout at a gym lifting weights!
The Small Desks
Another great reason college life helps you shed those stubborn pounds are the classrooms themselves. The chairs and desks are all built for the bodies of 18 year-old kids and not for 45 year-old returning students. What this means for you is that in order to have a semi comfortable experience in a lecture, you will be forced to slim down just to fit into the chairs. How is that for motivation?
The Scenery
Walking to and from classes is made much more pleasant by the beautiful scenery that I saw at these campuses I was at. I was even reminded of strolls that I've enjoyed in favorite parks. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature has a great effect on relieving stress.
Although this may all seem amusing it is still important to note that regular physical activity, along with the proper weight training is essential when coupled with the right motivation if you want to see yourself lose weight.
