Gyms Vs Home Workouts

Working out in the gym was OK, but honestly I felt uncomfortable, it was like everyone was watching me. I also did speed drills on the treadmill to help me run faster and every time I would push the treadmill faster and faster people would just look at me like I was crazy. As I was going through my transformation I did not feel comfortable in my own skin and just the thought of others looking at me while I worked out was totally uncomfortable. This is one of the biggest reasons I started working out in my own home with fitness DVDs. I feel so much more comfortable in my home with my family.

The cost of gym memberships is also crazy! For what you pay with a membership you can have a fitness DVD and keep it FOREVER. If you drop your gym membership because you can no longer afford it, what do you have left? NOTHING... Home fitness DVDs you can keep and have forever! If you get bored with the one that you are doing you can always switch it up with a different one. These days there are so many different programs that there is literally a program for everyone. So NO EXCUSES! I currently have a huge collection from yoga to Insanity.

My girls even join in with me most of the time and that is one thing that I love! Getting my kids involved with fitness instead of just dropping them off at the free daycare or having to pay a sitter to watch them while I work out. As a mom at times I would feel guilty for leaving them with the day care or a sitter and not be able to get them involved. In fact my 3 year old has a little pair of weights that she uses when I do lifting. Sometimes the hubby even joins in with me. home fitness DVDs are something that the whole family can participate in.

I know a lot of people also say that I just cannot workout unless someone is pushing me. Well, there are some really great fitness DVD motivators out there. My personal love is Chalene Johnson. She is truly amazing at pushing you to your limits and making you feel like accomplished when you push through something that you thought you couldn't do. Tony Horton is also a great motivator to make you push through to get just one more rep in. There are also so many online groups to help keep you accountable and help you push through to your goals.

Do you do fitness DVDs or work out in the gym? Do you have an online support group that you belong to?
