The Benefits Of West Virginia Drug Testing

By Sharron Cantu

Any kind of addiction needs to be taken care of. This can only be done with the consent of the person involved. However, in West Virginia drug testing is not a requirement especially in the private sector. The law has not been passed in this state to make it a must.

A drug is a substance that people take to cure a sickness or relieve pain and is usually prescribed by a practicing doctor, but there are other types of drugs that are mostly self prescribed that are not for relieving pain but for pleasure or ecstasy and this mostly affect the nervous system. The continuous use of this kind of drugs makes one an addict of that substance.

It is not uncommon in the states for a company to want its workers checked before being employed. But not in places like West Virginia. The employers ask their workers to be tested so that they can have a healthy workforce for better results in their companies. They are done on employment and then they are repeated after sometime like every six or so months.

People should not feel like their rights are being infringed on when the individuals are asked to take the test. It is like helping them take good care of their health and also helping them stay healthy. They become better employees with much better results in the company as they are always sober and able to work together and have a good relationship with their bosses. Having an addict as an employee can even be dangerous to the other workers as they are hard to work with.

The well being of some workers is not that important to their employers. All they care about are is making money. As long as an employee works they are good to go, their health is their problem. They have no time or money to order for their employees tests. They feel it is all a waste of their resources. If an employee blunders in any way they are just relieved of their duties.

Programs to educate and enlighten people in their workplaces are sometimes put in place by some caring employers. The individuals are made to understand the dangers of abusing drugs, the side effects not only on them but on their loved ones too.

It is therefore seen that when you educate a person on the benefits of drug testing, it is as well as educating the whole society as they educate each other, making it a progressive society with no risks of drug addiction.

It is not a bad idea making it a must for people to be tested. They can even do it to older school children as some of them get the addiction from their parents or siblings. Some get it from their peers when they sometimes want to fit in.
