Have You Been Unintentionally Damaging Your Diet?

We all realize that the best foods for our diets are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These would be the foods that give us all protein and energy. They keep our bodies nutritionally balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a number of the foods you've been thinking are fine for your diet could actually be making you retain weight? They could even be making you gain additional fat! Here are a number of the foods that might be undermining your diet work.

You are not truly helped by Sports Drinks. You've likely been thinking that the sports drink is the proper way to help your system feel much better after a workout. Most doctors recognize, however, that if your exercise session is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are packed with sugar and calories and a massive amount of other things you don't need such as artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try drinking some chocolate milk as a substitute. The sugar in chocolate may help your muscles begin to repair themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip your protein shakes. Lots of people are convinced ingesting a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. The truth is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is clog your system with protein. Contrary to popular opinion, protein doesn't get stored as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This means that if you have already taken in too much protein that day, your whole body will basically store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.



Pre-packaged deli meat isn't very nutritious at all. You might believe that a sandwich crafted from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. The simple fact is that pre-packaged deli meat is loaded full of preservatives and about a third of your suggested daily sodium intake. This is often especially risky if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than purchasing pre-packaged deli meat, select some home cooked chicken or the deli meats that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these kinds of options are more high priced but they are much healthier for you in the long run.

There are a massive amount things that we assume will help us shed pounds like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask a medical expert which food items are right for you and then consume those. If you are mindful about precisely what you eat and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
