Simple Paleo Protein Bar Recipe

By Ana Tanner

The paleo way of life is growing in communities worldwide, and so is the demand for paleo-friendly protein bars. The problem is that they can get pricey, and they may not have the flavor options you want.

If you know what I'm talking about, and you enjoy testing out new recipes - why not create your own healthy protein bars? They might take some time to bake, and they do not come in hassle-free single-serving containers, but with a little practice and some air tight plastic bags, you can create your own nutritious snack bars that you can carry with you in the car, to the health club or while traveling.

If you've ever read the labels for paleo bars, you most likely have observed a few similarities. There are usually less than ten ingredients, and many include nuts, coconut, protein powder and often dried fruit.

These are all items that you can purchase at your local grocery store, combine in a blender, spread out in a baking dish and cook for roughly 15 minutes. When finished, you simply take the baking dish out to cool, slice your bars into squares and place in air-tight containers that are ready to enjoy when you are.

The first couple of recipes that you make may be trial and error as far as discovering the taste and consistency you like best. There are a number of cost-free recipe samples online that you can find by conducting a fast search in a search engine.

When you find a dish that you like, you can get nuts, seeds and protein powder in bulk and cut your costs. Not only will you be eating healthy - you will be saving money at the same time!

Nuts, naturally, are a good protein source, however, some people add egg or protein powder to increase the quantity.

Nuts, unsweetened coconut and dried blueberries will not stick on their own. You want to include things such as almond butter, coconut oil with flax seed meal or honey to hold everything from falling apart.

Flavorings such as nutmeg or cinnamon can spice up your bars, together with a touch of salt. Get imaginative with the paleo items you include in your own recipes, as this can enhance the flavor, increase the variety and make it simpler to enjoy the paleolithic lifestyle.
