Why Sensa Makes Sense for Me

By Jay Steiner

I've learned the hard way not to compare my body to other people's bodies, especially emaciated and surgically altered models who are further airbrushed into perfection. True beauty comes from within. If you are self-confident and comfortable with yourself, you will appear more attractive than people who are miserably comparing themselves to others.

Please understand me: women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes, and I am glad that I love my body, but I also knew that at some point it would start to affect my health. Neither my doctor or my OBGYN had said anything so far, but finally it happened: my doctor said I needed to lose weight. I had been anticipating this day, but I was a little surprised when she said I needed to lose 30 pounds. I was kind of thinking she say something sooner, maybe at 15 pounds overweight, but there you have it.

My doctor has good reason to recommend that I lose weight. You see, excessive weight is associated with large number of health risks. Let's look at just the top 3:

*Type 2 Diabetes: More than 85 percent of people with type 2 diabetes are overweight. Type 2 diabetes can lead to heart and kidney disease, stroke, amputation, and blindness. In 2002, diabetes was the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. *Heart Disease and Stroke: Overweight people tend to have high blood pressure, high bad cholesterol, and low good cholesterol, and these are all factors that can make you have a heart attack or a stroke. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States, and stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death. *Cancer: Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United State. Being overweight can increase your risk of developing several types of cancer, including cancers of the colon, esophagus, and kidney. Being overweight is also linked with uterine and postmenopausal breast cancer in women.

I see my doctor again in a year. Can I lose the 30 pounds (yikes) that she recommends in only one year? Turns out that is quite doable: barely more than half a pound a week. Losing weight slowly is also recommended to avoid the negative consequences, such as gall bladder disease, associated with crash diets). Losing this small amount of weight is something that most people can do with small changes in what they eat, and 30 minutes of daily exercise (which also boost your mood.) However, this can be hard for some people. Our slow economic recovery means that those of us who have jobs are working extra hours to cover for those who got laid off, or they are working multiple low paying jobs to make ends meet.

I see my doctor again a year from now. So the question is, "Can I lose 30 pounds in one year?" Sure I can. That's barely more than half a pound a week. But can I do it with simple changes to my diet and exercise routine? Probably not. My job has me working a ridiculous number of hours each week, and my kid keeps me plenty busy with all of her activities. My biggest source of pleasure and relaxation is often the food that I eat. Sad, I know. But that's why I am going to try the Sensa diet plan. Sensa was created by neurobiologist who knows why my brain gets so much pleasure from eating, and Sensa can help me get more pleasure out of the food that I do eat so that I don't need to eat as much. I've read about Sensa, and I know it is convenient and easy, and well worth the money. After all, what's worth more than your health?
