Choosing A Diet Plan To Increase Pounds

By Johnny Adams

There are a number of diets out there, some good and some bad, that will help when it comes to losing weight, but there is only one way to gain it. A diet plan to gain weight will include good foods and weight training. There are many people who have a faster metabolism than most, and this means that gaining weight is particularly difficult for this group, but by increasing calories and healthy fats, and working out everyday, it is possible to gain weight.

The Right Foods

It is important to omit unhealthy foods from your diet, even for those who are looking to gain pounds. This is because foods that contain high amounts of sugar, calories and bad fats will increase not only your pounds, but body fat percentage as well. Eating these food leads to obesity and health ailments such as heart disease.

You want your intake to come from healthy foods that build lean muscle. The optimal goal here is to develop a lean and toned physique while maintaining good health. Foods that will help to achieve that lean and toned body include those that are high in protein.

Protein is an excellent way to increase amino acids in the body. Amino acids are crucial for building muscle. Include foods like chicken, turkey, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt and eggs for a healthy way to include protein into your diet. Whey protein powders are readily available at most health stores, and are a great way to get your protein in before and after a workout.

The Right Carbohydrates

There are several Myths out there about carbohydrates. The truth is that the body needs carbs. Carbohydrates are converted to glucose, which your body needs for energy. Your source of carbs should not include the refined type that is found in table sugar and white flour. Instead, eat whole meal and grain breads, potatoes, brown rice and fruits.

Eat Fats

Fats are good for you. Another fact that is hard for some to believe. It is thought that fats make you fat, and this is true if the fats come from an unhealthy source. Good fats are those that are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated and come from foods like raw nuts and olive oils. Include flaxseeds on your food and eat fish like tuna and mackerel for a good amount of essential fatty acids.

Eat Often

Most of us eat three meals a day with a few snacks in between. This is fine for those who are happy with their weight, but for those looking to gain pounds it is a better idea to eat six meals a day. Calories need to be increased, but eating three heavy meals a day is not the best way to accomplish this. Eat about 3,300 calories per day, which will mean three 700 calorie meals and three 400 calorie meals.

Choosing the right types of food is crucial for gaining weight. When following a diet plan to gain weight make sure to weight train three or four times per week for muscle building. Eat foods that have good carbohydrates, fats, and protein for a healthy body with a lean appearance.
