Exercise - Take The 10 Minute Challenge!

Last night my husband and I were talking about all the projects we need to get done before the weather turns. Our conversation included digging out the snow blower and tuning it up preparing for our normal northern Illinois Winter. I know, I know it's only August, but the truth is Winter will be here in a blink of an eye. Are you kidding me? Already? Ugh!

I've struggled all Summer to stay on track. Soon I'll have to contend with the Winter blues too? My mind was racing last night because thoughts of becoming complacent and going backwards are roaring in with a vengeance. I've worked SO hard to get here and I'm so afraid I'll end up in the same spot I was in only a few years ago. My emotions were all over the place. I cannot let this happen!

My head was spinning with all those crazy emotions of fear, panic and anxiety running through my head I seriously had to sit and calm myself down. Why was I so stressed about this? The real and honest answer is guilt. I already had been slipping into a few old bad habits and know that it will be a even a bigger challenge once the weather changes. What in the heck am I going to do?

Alright, alright, calm down Sharon, you've been through this a million times, quit being ridiculous! So what's my plan? Getting back to the basics, that's my plan!

SO starting today! I'm going to focusing on only exercising 10 minutes a day and if I'm up to the challenge maybe sneak an extra 10 minutes a day. I know you're thinking what can 10 minutes a day really do? But the truth is there are more benefits than you realize.

Boosts mood; It feels good that I've committed my time which gets rid of my guilt.
Reduces stress; It helps control what's going on around me and keeping things into perspective and clearing my mind. AND I know I'm doing something about my fears which relaxes me and gets rid of the guilt.
No dread; knowing that I only need to take 10 minutes and will see very quick results and gets rid of the guilt. Bonus, it helps to keep my metabolism fired up.
Increased energy; This helps beat the fatigue I've been feeling all Summer long. Which puts me in a better frame of mind and helps get rid of my guilt.
Get back into the swing of things; Since I've been using my outside activities as my exercise it will help me get back into a routine that is vital for me. I'm a rut person so it'll help the "no excuse" attitude I need to have to keep on track. Which helps get rid of guilt.
I think for most of us our biggest road block is guilt. Guilt if we don't eat right, guilt if we don't exercise X amount of minutes a day, guilt that we're going backwards, that we can't get started or maybe back into a routine. If you're stuck like me, take my challenge and take 10 minutes today. It can be in a variety of ways. If you go to the grocery store, park as far away as possible to add extra steps to your day. Take the stairs at work instead of the elevator. Take the long way to the rest room. Take 10 minutes of your lunch hour to take a short walk. I promise this will not only make you feel better it will soon become your own challenge of finding different ways to add more activity to your day! No better time than the present, start today and NO excuses.

If you decide to start today or already have your own routine, I would love to hear how, I am always searching and always open for new ways or ideas. Take a minute and let me know how you're fitting in your 10 minutes today!
